The Slea Head Drive is an extremely scenic route on the Wild Atlantic Way, that begins and ends and in Dingle town. Your guided tour of Slea Head Drive takes in a number of attractions and stunning views on the western end of the peninsula. It is one of the favorite drives of our chauffeurs.

On leaving Dingle you head on to Milltown Bridge, past the village of Ventry.  Dunbeg Fort is an ancient fortification on the route with sheer cliffs and great views.   There is an audiovisual presentation and a nice café in “The Stone House” at Dunbeg.

Slea Head itself is marked by a stone crucifixion scene where there are panoramic views to South Kerry and the Blasket Islands. Dun Chaoin where some of the movie, “Ryan's Daughter" was filmed has dramatic views and you can get very close to some of the rugged jagged terrain that closely resembles that of The Skelligs. The Drive continues north and east from Dún Chaoin through Ballyferriter. The route now heads eastward, passing close to a number of ancient monuments, such as the excavated early Christian site at Reasc, and Gallarus Oratory.

We guide you on to Feohanagh where a bridge is crossed and the route brings you to Brandon Creek. This inlet was the reputed starting point of the voyage of Saint Brendan to America, long before Columbus. The Drive now heads south and runs along the foot of Mount Brandon, the second-highest mountain in Ireland before rejoining the main road south to Dingle.

"After debating whether to drive or take a bus tour of Connemara -we found Ireland West Tours. We ended up with one of the best days we had in all of our trip to Ireland. The final treat was a link to the photos he had taken of us, you'll never get that on a bus tour!"
